Although my good pal and eBay guru extraordinaire, Bernie, brought down a used screen for me that he got on eBay, it turns out the problem is the logic board. To make a long story short, I'm now using Ubuntu Linux 9.10 on a Toshiba L305-S5994 lappie. Everything runs great and now I XP via VirtualBox. I do miss OS X Tiger, but I'm LOVIN' Linux. ep, Desktop Linux is now viable and ENJOYABLE to use. I also urge you to try out Mandriva, OpenSUSE, PCLinuxOS, Linux Mint and SimplyMEPIS. All of these distros are highly respected and some are even more FRIENDLY than Ubuntu in terms of having the right codecs and slightly better hardware detection.
