MaxTheITpro on web cam in Ottawa, CanadaI‘m a well-rounded individual with a Computer Science background who has a passion for music, healthy living, meeting people, and exchanging ideas with keen minds from around the globe. Having been raised in Barbados and Canada (with 3 years in the US) – along with fond memories of Kenya, Tanzania and Cuba – allows me to effortlessly interact with Netizens everywhere.

By the way, I also enjoy attending huge Electronic Dance Music (EDM) events in Montreal like Bal en Blanc, Black & Blue, and Swirl because the crowd vibe is out of this world. The opposite end of my techie lifestyle involves “exercising the body” by playing lots of basketball, road tennis (when in Barbados), rollerblading in my K2 Velocity, or hanging out in the gym. Hopefully, I’ll “experience” the Ibiza (Spain) EDM scene some day.

About my pic?
Okay, alrighty…here’s a pic (top, wearing white bandana) from off a friend’s web cam. I think I was just coming back from the gym, rollerblading or playing basketball. But trust me, I wear suits or dress business casual for serious IT or business meetings, so don’t get scared! Actually, I’m a pussy cat. :-)

** Pic Update – September 2009 **MaxTheITpro on a Charlie Claw's tour on Wasini Island, Kenya across from Shimoni - Sept 2 2009
Aah, here’s a recent pic thanks to Tanja Meyer (former model, spa connoisseur in SA, worldly traveler) of South Africa who’s traveling thru East Africa taking some fab pics and getting content for her upcoming book on coastal Swahili foods and culture. “Thanks Tanja!! Twas great haning out with you for 2 days! I’ll definitely see ya in Zanzi (Zanzibar) in a few months.” This is a pic on the AMAZING Wasini Island on Kenya’s pristine coast line — across from Shimoni which you can see in the background across the Indian Ocean.

Music is the answer
Of all the different genres of EDM, unquestionably House music is the most inspiring – to me. I, truly, am in awe (and passionate) about House music. In essence, it has changed my life. More specifically, I love House music that combines elements of Dark, Tribal, and Progressive sounds. So if you ever hear me say “Dark Progressive”, “Dark Tribal” or “Tribal Progressive,” you know I’m talking about underground House beats that are off the charts and too powerful for any cheesy Top-40 club. Of course I also enjoy the Funky and Chicago House sound, but nothing gets me more upbeat and ready to dance than House music with a Dark, Tribal, or Progressive sound – nothing!

My favourite DJs & Producers?
Abe van Dam (Ottawa), DJ Jelo (Toronto, podcasts), DJ Hashek (Ottawa), Green Velvet, Victor Calderone, Steve Lawler (London), DJ Dan, Creator (Montreal), Dan Medland (Ottawa, Toronto), John Digweed (London), DJ Demi, Chus & Ceballos (Spain), DJ Myka (Toronto), DJ Addy (Toronto), Kenny Glasgow (Toronto, see review), Dekoze, Miss Honey Dijon, Derrick Carter, Chris Liebing (Germany), X-Cube (Montreal)…and lots of others.

Take the information – and run
Guys, in your life so far, have you ever been “out” and, by chance, ran into a remarkably charming woman who can captivate your mind with deep, varied conversation? I have! And when you both parted ways for the day, did you feel that you were a better person for meeting her due to the knowledge she imparted on you? I have! {Q: Why did I choose a woman? I don’t know, but intelligent women fascinate the hell out of me!} :-)

Well, after reading Paul Graham‘s insightful book (Hackers & Painters), his way of thinking has provided me with some very common sense tools for every day living. In my case, why on earth would I re-invent the wheel when Paul has “done it” so to speak?
